So what have bohees taught you in the past?

Speaker 2:

it's taught me this you know, just to be on time. You know, do your work and just study real hard and you'll make it so what advice can you give somebody who want to come to the school?

Speaker 2:

You could just just don't, you know, burn yourself out with the work and, just like you know, go out your way to like have fun and, just like you know, do other hobbies that you like doing. Don't just be in your books 24 seven you know what I'm saying Cause you'll burn out doing that and you know, just do things that you like to do. You know other hobbies.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so what does HBC stand for mean to you?

Speaker 2:

It means you know just a historical black college, you know, and just everything that stands for you know personally, in my opinion, oh well, thank you.

to the upcoming freshmen. Upcoming freshmen, it goes by fast it does.

It does go by fast. Please enjoy it, please have the time of your life.

Speaker 3:

I promise you won't get it back. Then you're going to come back looking like us wishing we were still here. Do everything you can.

Speaker 5:

Don't miss events. If you don't feel like this, do it, you're going to regret it later.

Speaker 3:

Yep, and do what you got to do now so you can do what you want to do between.

Speaker 1:

Voorhees College and Voorhees University? I don't know about that.

Speaker 3:

Now we went to.

Speaker 5:

Voorhees College? I don't know about that, so nothing.

Speaker 1:

You sure nothing, nothing. I know all of them. It's a nice little scoreboard they got in there. Actually actually the new gym.

Speaker 7:

The new gym Come on.

Speaker 1:

The jerseys, the jerseys. Jersey. It's still the same feeling, though, so what advice can y'all give? Like, y'all played basketball before. Y'all played basketball, y'all really good. Speaker 11:

Any problem with that.

Speaker 1:

All right. So what advice can y'all give who want to come to Voorhees University? I would say, you know, just be goal-driven, make sure you, you know, keep your priorities in check, because it can be hard sometimes trying to focus here, but other than that just kind of keep your priorities together and like don't be a student leader, don't be a lame, come out your room because class of 28 is lame.

Speaker 1:

All I say is come out your room, meet new people, get involved in the school, meet your advisors and everybody and talk to your teachers. Hello, anyone? Come on? Vohi? So at the end of the day, that's just good vibes. You know People that pour into you, people that you can pour into there we go. That's the whole mission of homecoming all together. So what advice would you give somebody who wants to come here? I just want to be here in the land, stop playing in the land. Listen, you got people that love you for into you. You're getting second chances. You meet amazing people that go change your life and you get opportunities out of this world, just like any other institution. I know you remember me, I sure do so as you graduate here and see how the college grew into a university like how are you impressed that the college came this far?

Speaker 9:

university like how are you impressed that the college came this far? Well, I'm impressed by looking at how HBCUs have struggled and to see that 4-H is still maintaining and still growing.

Speaker 1:

Okay, and what advice can you give somebody who wants to come here, or already here, at this?

Speaker 9:

moment. I would say hang in there, Even in times when it doesn't seem like it's easy and all the things that can challenge you. Stick with it and you'll get through it. Speaker 3:

I am, I am. My friends are back on campus because you know they graduated, so they're alumni. I'm just so overwhelmed.

Speaker 1:

And you are graduating this year, yes, so what advice can you give somebody who's on the class or who wants to come here?

Speaker 3:

Who wants to come? Here, yeah, to those who want to come here, it may not be much, but the environment is so amazing like you get that family feel when you're here. You're that home. This is that home away from home and like because, even though I'm 30 minutes up the road, sometimes I don't go home because I I created that environment here. It's easier to create that environment here, all right, all right.

Speaker 1:

And also what's your major?

Speaker 3:

Business, admin and entrepreneurship.

Speaker 1:

Oh, so you said business, admin and entrepreneurship. You want to start a business?

Speaker 5:

Great goodbye, no bad energy, great, All the best guys, all the best.

Speaker 1:

Goodbye friends, all right. So what's the difference between VC and VU? So what they're missing, like what do you need to come out the room and have fun?

Speaker 5:

I'm not getting a feel.

Speaker 1:

So what advice can y'all give somebody who's here right now and trying to enjoy school, trying to get through it? Like you know, school work is hard. You know life goes up and down.

Speaker 5:

What advice can y'all give them right now?

Speaker 1:

Okay, okay, okay. And where can we find y'all on social media.

Speaker 5:

Woohoo, follow why she be in the house At K-Sloan. Yeah, you can follow me on, go ahead. I'm not here with no face mask and I also own a booth with something?

Speaker 1:

Okay okay, let's talk about it. What kind of booth did you buy? I own a booth, ooh, okay.

Speaker 5:

Okay, let's talk about it. What kind of booth did?

Speaker 1:

you buy.

Speaker 5:

I own a booth. Oh okay, what kind of clothes you be selling? I sell everything. Where do I buy? Ebd, ebd, EBD, ebd, ebd, ebd.

Speaker 1:

EBD E. I said, man, if you're not here, you're in your room. Like get out the fuck here. Man, it's for a fucking year, all right, thank y'all so much and we'll get you right back in. Thank y'all. We are now here at Voorhees Homecoming as we see friends, family, fraternities, sororities, all getting along in one big house. And who I have with today, tamisha Frank hi Hi. Who I have with today, tamisha Frank Hunter. All right, frank, so you have been a coach. So how are you enjoying the game so far? I love it.

Speaker 6:

I love it, I love it. I love what Blood Coats Blood is doing in the program. I think we got a chance to pull this thing off the roof, okay.

Speaker 5:

Okay.

Speaker 3:

We're going to work hard out there. It's a club, you know. We got to, so what does it?

Speaker 5:

mean to see all the alumni in one big lot of people in there just to support for the girls. I just want to see the program thrive.

Speaker 3:

Just want a lot of people to come out and get more support for their school, get more students. Just want to up that enrollment.

Speaker 1:

man All right Four knees is definitely a greatness. It is, it is. And what about you?

Speaker 6:

I love it here, man because this is where I started. This is where I started my coaching career and to see the school building and improving every time when you pull up. You see, you know the major improvements on campus and love seeing everybody coming back to home this is amazing.

Speaker 1:

Okay, and what advice can you give somebody who wants to come to Voorhees and the students that are here now?

Speaker 3:

I would certainly say for me just that family atmosphere is still connected, being connected. It was definitely when I came here I had other options, but just the love, just I remember miss jemison just the hope that she embraced the affection.

Speaker 1:

I knew this was home and I mean, it's still like that, just when you see people.

Speaker 5:

You saw how we embraced each other. I sure did so hey, we see it firsthand.

Speaker 10:

We need to talk about the opportunity and no matter where you go to school you need a great opportunity to have here, build from it and start a life.

Speaker 6:

This place, right here, changed a lot of lives and people take it for granted that this place really changed a lot of lives. The family atmosphere here is unique. There's no more better than this place.

Speaker 1:

My last question for y'all is you know, everybody needs improvement. What do you think Voorhees need to improve on?

Speaker 5:

We need improvement. I think that we just need to stay alive.

Speaker 1:

I think we got to do more to get the name out there, more to get more students out here, because the more students that we have out here, then we can do more things out here.

Speaker 3:

So until we get the enrollment and the funds are really rolling in, then I think it's going to be hard.

Speaker 5:

But I think that somehow we definitely need to put in our work, we need to make sure we reach out and be mentors and just let these students know that you know, let them just see us firsthand and what we're doing for us. All right, what about you?

Speaker 6:

I agree, definitely. I definitely think that alumni are very important. The key thing right now is if every alumni center leaves two people, they're rolling a bill on themselves, all right. Giving back to sure is very important. A lot of people think that because they did a little something here, they need to get something. But guess what? He's gave them something. It's time to give a little something back. Does everybody give $1,000 a year? You?

Speaker 10:

see enrollment go up.

Speaker 6:

I'm telling you I do see what Dr Hopkins is doing and I think it's improving already, but she hit the nail on the head.

Speaker 1:

All right, alright, I'd like to thank y'all so much. When I say give, I just want to make sure that I say it doesn't have to always be monetary, okay. I want to make sure I say that Because I don't mean Exactly Sending people, just helping out, calling, talking to these students. That's definitely If you've got any free time, just come back and just sit with the students. I think most of the time students are missing that disconnection between alumni and the student who are on campus. So I want them to just come back and just, you know, come one day just to volunteer or just walk on campus, just talk to the students, exactly. So I want to thank y'all so much and I really appreciate y'all and I hope my listeners is taking everything in. Thank y'all so much, awesome.

Speaker 5:

Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 1:

We are here at Roy Hughes University Homecoming. I am officially at my plots. I'm at the Zeta and Sigma plot, like I'll always be, and who I'm with right now? Tyler.

Speaker 5:

Tyler, ashanti and Vanessa.

Speaker 1:

So we are here with my babies. You know they kind of knew on different campuses. You know I've always camped in Augusta Campus as well, and also I have my son here. Dre, can you say hi, shout out, because his birthday is tomorrow. Hello, turn it up. We're going to say your age. We're going to say your age, we're going to say your age. So I got Joey Holcomb coming so far.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, so far so good, so far so good.

Speaker 1:

I got Joey Holcomb man.

Speaker 5:

Speaker 1:

Speaker 5:

I'm drinking booze, go ahead. Who'm drinking blue? Detail, we're not here, go ahead.

Speaker 9:

Speaker 1:

Oh, kamaya, who else we got here? We got the biggest. So can y'all tell my people why blue and white is the bomb that other fraternities and sororities? It's?

Speaker 5:

not like that. So okay, it's not like that, I mean the best color combination of all your boys.

Speaker 1:

Talk about it. So how does it feel to see? You know the alumni is coming back. You know your friends, family coming back, seeing the blue white family coming back, how does it feel?

Speaker 13:

like I love me and going white. Nobody am I a fan and I'm not nobody do it like you're right, okay, okay.

Speaker 5:

So what does the student or campus in the room and not have a fun they late, that's a 28 lane no, no, no, class of 20, wait, wait. Let me say that.

Speaker 1:

So what does the student on campus need to do to you know, come out this year. Come out and party, get connected.

Speaker 5:

We need to go out there and wake them up. We need to go out. They get mad at us. Be yourself.

Speaker 11:

They nervous, they shy.

Speaker 5:

Just be, y'all been drinking.

Speaker 1:

I'm underage. Y'all minors In this country, y'all minors. So y'all think what I'm saying to my listeners. Let them know, do something, say something to my listeners. Let them know, do something, say something.

Speaker 5:

Um. Who are white people? Hey follow me at Trinity. Oh, nobody want to follow you.

Speaker 1:

So let's have this conversation. So, since y'all are in school and college, what did y'all learn and what can y'all can do better in your life right now?

Speaker 5:

Time management. Yeah, it's good for sure. Time management and patience Pressure and patience.

Speaker 1:

I'd say mental health is a big thing.

Speaker 11:

You really got to focus on that, because once you let it go, it's a wild thing to try to get it back.

Speaker 5:

Social network. Meet more people, more people in your class and people under you. Be a great mentor to people under you. Don't procrastinate. No. Mental health is important Always do the good work.

Speaker 1:

So you say mental health is very important, right? So in my broadcast I talk about that a lot. So what does mental House mean to you?

Speaker 5:

Putting myself first, really Okay. I'm always worried about everybody else, trying to make sure everybody else is the best. Who's going to show up for me?

Speaker 1:

You can't point to an empty cup or a broken cup. See that part, that part. So where can we find each and every one of y'all on social media, Instagram?

I am most definitely joining Homecoming. Yeah, I'm ready for the step show Woo, we're gonna get to that.

Speaker 8:

We're gonna get to that real quick.

Speaker 5:

You ready to get it? No, oh Wait. Okay, now we're gonna get to that.

Speaker 9:

We going to get to that we're going to get to that. Are you enjoying?

Speaker 5:

Yes, I am, I'm enjoying.

Speaker 1:

So you're on the SGA bar, so what can you tell me about your position, what you do?

Speaker 5:

Alright, so what's?

Speaker 1:

your classification? What can you tell me about your position? What do you do? I'm senior, all right. So what's your classification? Senior Senior, oh, quebec, senior, all right. So what are you planning to do after college, after university?

Speaker 5:

I'm sorry. I want to be a social worker. Okay, okay, social worker Go back to school for my master's Okay.

Speaker 1:

Okay, okay, you got graduated already.

Speaker 11:

But I'm working with Hockey Learning and I'm also working with the state of South Carolina.

Speaker 1:

So, yeah, so y'all are still in school, right? So what advice can y'all give the students right now who's on campus and who wants to come here in the near future?

Speaker 3:

I would say choose wisely and don't try to put in with the school and do your work on time. No, procrastination.

Speaker 13:

What I would say no procrastination.

Speaker 11:

Find what works best for you. Find your crowd of people, the right people that are going to have the same mindset as you as far. Your crowd of people, the right people that are going up that have the same mindset as you as far as career-wise, life-wise. Make sure you surround yourself with people that are going to elevate you and not dim your light. It will definitely affect your experience here at this campus, but I will always represent the field.

Speaker 1:

All right, I am sitting here with alumni who we got here with.

Speaker 3:

Hi, I'm Tandy Poirier, formerly Tandy Watson, when I was an undergrad student here at Fort Hughes University.

Speaker 1:

What advice that you can give these young people that who's in front of you right now. Education is key, even when you leave this campus graduate, get that piece of paper the education will pave a path for you that will open up many doors for you. I was a business major here at the university, but currently I'm a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.

Speaker 3:

I work full-time for the government government and I also have my private practice.

Speaker 1:

So my camaraderie with the students here when I was a student has played a very integral part of who I am today. So for students thinking about the Voorhees University Tigers go, tigers there we go, go Tiger. So one more question for y'all, for the people who's on campus, all right, so mental health is big and a lot of people don't believe in mental health, especially when you have so much of work. You know social anxiety, trying to find your way throughout life. So what advice can you give that you experience on here on campus, that you give somebody who's out in the world?

Speaker 11:

One thing I would give as far as my family practice when it comes to mental health, having a faith system, a strong faith system, is so important. Me personally, I believe in God. I talk to him almost every day. I have my own private sessions with him. I have a prayer room that I built inside of my little area with him. I have a prayer room that I built inside of my little area. It's good to just go to him for prayer. Also, surrounding yourself with like-minded people as well, that helps that prayer family. That foundation is always important.

Speaker 1:

What about you Pretty?

Speaker 5:

For me. I know when people get busy in different organizations, you forget about yourself. So I say invest in yourself when you get some time read a little, do karaoke.

Speaker 8:

It's good to have different organizations.

Speaker 1:

you forget about yourself so about the step show right? So what about? It's like, what's up with sorority? You win like it's okay and it's not thinking where you go and we're um, we're like what year you cross, give us a see. So you're not glad you're not graduating, right. So it again. If this question's to you, you know mental health is very important. How did you work through it as a boy in school here?

Speaker 5:

Okay, I'm not really good at handling issues like that, so I didn't have the best way to do it.

Speaker 11:

But I learned after I graduated like keep working and stuff on my job.

Speaker 5:

They focus on people like people, who do the most help, need the most help most of the time, but they don't know how to get it.

Speaker 11:

Get it, to get it to myself like so how they were saying, like take that time for you, like it's okay to be there for your friends and family, but you gotta be there for you, right?

Speaker 1:

so, all right, and I'm I'm here with your twin, so let me tell y'all. So she has a twin right? All right. So, speaking of you being her twin, you know how your spirit might be same. It might be different. Can you tell the listeners about your experience in school, right, um?

Speaker 5:

my experience, uh, I don't know, I would say it's stressful, it's really stressful, um, but I'm pushing through it, okay okay, okay.

Speaker 1:

So what can we find on y'all social media?

Speaker 11:

my Instagram is tragedy underscore r. Y r e okay. My Instagram is Magic.

Speaker 5:

Underscore R-Y-L-E. Okay, mine is underscore. I am the real Maya. That's M-Y-A underscore Mine is Number two.

Speaker 1:

Speaker 5:

Speaker 11:

Speaker 5:

I am here at Voices Homecoming. I am here with my classmate Shay.

Speaker 1:

How you doing, Shay, I'm good. How you doing, I'm doing good. Are you enjoying homecoming? Yes, I am, I really am so like you see your friends, you see your family, you see your classmates. How is it good? Because I haven't been here in a long time, so this year has been really good seeing everyone again, and also I see you engaged, girl.

Speaker 5:

I see you. I see you, girl, I am, and expecting at the same time. How far are you with MUMIA Going on six months?

Speaker 1:

So are you excited?

Speaker 5:

Are you nervous.

Speaker 3:

How do you feel at this moment? I? Have so many emotions at the same time, I'm excited. I'm really excited.

Speaker 1:

But I'm emotional at the same time, and then nervous at the same time. So it's very challenging, but we're having a boy. By the way, she's giving me a joke. That's a cute dog. That's also my classmate as well, that we met in 2015. Look at guys.

Speaker 9:

Look at guys.

Speaker 1:

At Voorhees College. We're now at Voorhees University. Look at that. We finally have him in college. What advice can you give somebody who wants to attend here or who's here right now? My advice is to stay focused, but always have fun, because life can sometimes pass you by when you're just trying to get to your destination. But always enjoy life at the same time, because sometimes you can miss out on the little things and spend it on something big. So stay focused and enjoy life at the same time.

Speaker 11:

All right, and how can we find you on social?

Speaker 1:

media. My Facebook is Shiana Lachey and my Snapchat is BeautifulMe and my Instagram is Lachey24. All alright, I hope y'all are enjoying Homecoming. My name is Zachary William and this is the two of us broadcast deuces. I am here with D'Aria Walker yes, so how? Are you doing Homecoming?

Speaker 13:

Oh my gosh, I am thrilled. I'm so excited to be back home.

Speaker 9:

There we go. And she played a doctor's doctor.

Speaker 1:

So how does it feel to see your sorrows? Oh my gosh.

Speaker 3:

Sisterhood. That's all that sticks in my heart. Dedication I love them dearly.

Speaker 1:

So what advice can you give this ASPCU or somebody who wants to come here?

Speaker 3:

If someone wants to come here only thing that I would say is you are at home, you'll be treated at home, you'll be loved, dedication, all the things you have to do is just keep going. Do not give up. If you need someone to talk to, just reach out to someone and they'll wrap you up and carry you through All right, Since you play basketball.

Speaker 1:

So how are you enjoying the basketball game? Oh, the girls, they're actually catching up.

Speaker 3:

I'm so excited because one thing about me you never give up. That's one thing about me Just keep fighting Once you bring that energy at the beginning and towards the end you will win.

Speaker 1:

It's funny because we have Mr. It used to be Mr Voorhees, college Nate.

Speaker 9:

Kim, how you doing? Nate? I'm doing well. How about you? It's homecoming. It's homecoming, bro. You're a boss. Beautiful people, you look good, you smell good.

Speaker 1:

So how do you feel about you just being home seeing your classmates? He's an offer, y'all.

Speaker 4:

Come on now.

Speaker 1:

To see your brothers, to see everybody's faces and new faces.

Speaker 9:

It's family. There's nothing wrong with being around family, because you know family is going to be family always. So at the end of the day, that's just good vibes. You know People that pour into you, people that you can pour into. There we go. That's the whole mission of homecoming all together. So what advice would you give somebody who wants to come here? I just want to be here. This is the best HGCU in the land. Stop playing. The best HGCU in the land. Listen. You got people that love you, pour into you, you get second chances, you meet amazing people that are going to change your life and you get opportunities out of this world, just like any other institution. So where can we find both of y'all? On social media.

Speaker 1:

Oh, you know, Mr.

Speaker 9:

Ray making himself. You know, hey, the way it coming soon, keep that in mind. The way it coming soon, new project coming through.

Speaker 13:

All right, so again, I'm DARE.

Speaker 11:

Walker. You can find me on Instagram DWalker underscore 20.

Speaker 1:

All right, thank y'all. We are here at Voorhees University. We are celebrating homecoming. Who are you happy with?

Speaker 10:

Corey and Michael.

Speaker 1:

Alright, corey and Michael, are you enjoying your homecoming?

Speaker 10:

Yeah, of course Always.

Speaker 1:

So what it would like to be home and seeing your fraternity, your frat brothers, just the new faces here, seeing old faces. How does it feel?

Speaker 10:

I mean, it's always a good situation when you're able to link up with people with a lack of tameness and also with people that you build specific bonds with.

Speaker 1:

So to be able to encourage, you know, the new Voorhees students to be becoming the best version of themselves is always a good thing, Okay so what advice can you give the students that are here now, that are in their rooms at the moment, people who want to come at Voorhees?

Speaker 10:

Just to keep striving for greatness and just persevere through all the obstacles and all the challenges, just know there's always an end to all struggles. You know what I'm saying and, with that being said, just pushing forward and making sure that they're becoming the best version of themselves.

Speaker 1:

Okay, and so one main thing we like to talk about is mental health. You know a lot of VoorU students I have interviewed. They have a struggle with dealing with mental health and how to deal with it. So in your experience you know throughout your life what advice can you give them during mental health?

Speaker 10:

You always got to have hobbies. You always got to have something that you like to do, something that encourages you to be greater. You know, for me per se, I was always a student athlete so I always took time to exercise and you know, just to get my mind into ways of just growing and I always try to encourage myself in order to do things that are bigger than myself, encouraging myself to be around people who are influential and things of that nature. So you know, just being around the right people, getting those positive vibes, you know those situations that's going to draw positive aspects of life. So you know I appreciate that.

Speaker 1:

Thank you and I'd like to just thank you just for me, just stopping by, just hearing you Appreciate you and, like I said, my name is Zachary. We are at homecoming. He's homecoming right now. If you are in your room, just come out and enjoy. Man, have fun connecting with these alumni. You never know what you're expecting. All right, All right, appreciate it. Thank you see. I am at Voorhees College University, my dad Voorhees University, homecoming you know it's different College was right.

Speaker 9:

You know it's different College was right, you know, oh, not, college was right, college was right. Who are you with Will Lewis?

Speaker 12:

Solo Presidential Scrub, whatever you want to call it so what classification?

Speaker 1:

I said what's your classification.

Speaker 6:

Class of 2016.

Speaker 9:

All right.

Speaker 1:

So what? Listen it's how old, not old it does it.

Speaker 12:

does so. Are you enjoying your homecoming? Are you drinking I?

Speaker 1:

am, I am. What are you drinking?

Speaker 12:

Right now Jack Honey.

Speaker 9:

Oh, that's really good. Okay, okay, jack, honey and lemonade.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so how, like you see your friends, you see like your family members, you see your familiar faces, new faces. How are you feeling at the moment seeing new?

Speaker 12:

faces. I'm loving seeing everybody who I was here with. I am a little sad, though it seems like the campus need to wake up a little bit. Everybody kind of looks sleepy still. I know we came yesterday.

Speaker 4:

I think it's important to have a relationship with the alumni because not only like now, it would be great for us if we all have a relationship with each other and know at least some of each other. It's like better for us to have a better time at home coming.

Speaker 6:

Building connections with the alumni is basically just building the family even more, so with a bigger family you got more support. More support can just make the school better.

Speaker 1:

All right. So how can we find y'all on social media?

Speaker 10:

You can look me up at nickunderscorel-i-v-e-l-a-r-g-e. Nickunderscorelivelarge, check me out.

Speaker 4:

I'm on Instagram T-H-A-R-E-A-L-D-E-J-A-A.

It is Vogue's Homecoming and we are here, we are lit and we are live. It's good to see familiar faces, who I have with here, Wait, ty Dee, so are y'all having fun during Homecoming?

Speaker 8:

Speaker 1:

Speaker 8:

Just a little bit, Absolutely Well y'all been drinking.

Speaker 1:

Let's be honest.

Speaker 8:

Y'all been drinking. I had the tequila. I got from Mexico, okay, I had tequila.

Speaker 1:

All right, so you see how we have to pause on that one All right, you see how to come back on that one girl. So what advice can y'all give students who are here now, who are in their rooms?

Speaker 8:

Who are in their rooms.

Speaker 1:

They are in their room, girl, why are you in your?

Speaker 8:

room. I'm so confused, I'm sorry. Why are you in your room? This is when you make your friends, this is when you network, even if you're not super, super, super social like hbcus especially small hbcus are so connected and we're so deep rooted and we always want to help each other out. Like this is your time to even make like career moves, like be outside, have fun, because you will never get this back again. Go ahead, I'm well. It's basically just what she said Exactly the same thing.

Speaker 1:

And also who I have here with girl. She's a real good dancer, y'all.

Speaker 13:

The biggest Drea, straight from the 404.

Speaker 1:

Okay, Drea, what's your classification?

Speaker 13:

Oh, I'm a senior Class of 25, you know we live.

Speaker 1:

Okay, okay, so what you have learned so far? You've been at the HBCU.

Speaker 13:

I learned Be honest, girl. That's all. It's okay, girl, be honest, I learned how to make it through the struggles.

Speaker 10:

What is the struggle, girl?

Speaker 13:

No water, no Wi-Fi, no lights. Yeah, you just gotta learn how to. That's not like HBCU.

Speaker 1:

That's not like HBCU.

Speaker 13:

Them life skills right there.

Speaker 1:

So what advice can you give the upcoming freshmen, the persons who are here now trying to make it through?

Speaker 13:

College is what you make it. If you don't come out your room it's going to be boring, but once you start doing this stuff, you come out your room, you go to every event. College is definitely what you make it.

Speaker 1:

So both of y'all, how does it feel to come back and see alumni? You know, alumni give them money, alumni give that job for y'all.

Speaker 13:

It's my favorite time of the year. Do you go out?

Speaker 1:

every once, every year, I'm telling y'all.

Speaker 8:
